Doug Batchelor Twists Revelation and the Rapture

Wow! I just listened to your latest podcast this morning. And I am listening to it again! I’ve been reading the book on Revelation by Amir Tsarfati and just read about Chapter 6 of Revelation yesterday. I love it when that happens.

I also just watched a YouTube video that my husband was watching by Doug Bachelor: “Revelation 1—The coming Rapture”. Of course you know his Adventist ideas, but I had never heard them in any detail. I thought I’d better know what Adventists say before I try to talk to my husband about it—one area we still differ on.

It bothers me that Adventists call the rapture of the church a “Secret Rapture”. This came out in Mr. Bachelor’s video. I’ve never heard it called “Secret”. It is only “unannounced”. We do not know the day or the hour. True, there are many non-believers who will not understand. Scripture makes it clear that His feet do not touch down on the Earth at this point. That is why it is referred to as a Rapture and not the Second coming which is a later event. When he does “touch down” on the Mount of Olives, we will return with Him.

Mr. Bachelor was talking about the white horse and its rider being Jesus. It was not clear which white horse he was referring to, but from his context I think it was the first one along with the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. The second white horseman in Revelation 19 is clearly Christ “called Faithful and True”. But definitely He is not the first white horseman. Batchelor was speaking of the rapture but certainly was skipping about in Revelation a lot. I think this video is first in a series. I will watch for the next one.

Amir also shared some interesting information about the first horseman’s crown. He was given a crown (stephanos). This is a victor’s crown, not the crown of a king. He is going out to become victorious over the world. Of course—the Antichrist.

Another interesting thing Amir mentions is that the Church is not mentioned in Revelation after John enters Heaven in Chapter 4 until Chapter 19. Obviously the Church has been taken out of the picture of events. Why, oh why, would Christ subject his Bride to the horrors of the Tribulation? That just would not make any sense.

I’m just so excited and happy that everything that I read and study agrees with Scripture. The Bible contains the only truth. And believe me, I look up everything!…

We really do serve an awesome God!

Enjoying your podcasts! Just wanted to let you know how much!

Response: Thank you so much for writing! I’m so thankful that the podcast is so helpful for you. I know what you mean about the amazement of hearing multiple sources confirming the same insight! That is really so confirming. I love hearing that Amir Tsarfati sees things similarly.

You know, it really sounds as if the Lord is changing your husband’s heart step by step. I’m sure that the Lord is using your love and quiet influence as a change agent in his life. I continue to pray for him and for you. It takes time for one to gather the courage and the “big picture” in order to leave the warping background of Adventism.

Making Contact

I’ve really enjoyed your podcasts so far. I actually heard about the Former Adventist Podcast through the Cultish Podcast that you were a guest on. It’s been quite the journey for me over the past year or so. This will be the first Saturday I’m purposely not attending the Adventist Church. I’m a lifer, so it feels like a big deal.

Do you have any kind of network or ways to find other former Adventists in my area? It would be nice to have someone in person to talk to about all of this.

Response: We do not actually know where the various formers are located specifically. Many are so vulnerable and “fresh” that they don’t always want to be known, either. I can offer you our Friday even FAF Bible study though. We meed every Friday at 7:00 PM Pacific Time, and if you would like to join us, you can request a Zoom link by emailing FormerAdventist@gmail.com and asking.

We have several people who attend from different time zones, so you wouldn’t be alone if you are outside the Pacific zone.

We would love to have you with us if you can do it!

Difference Between Rapture and Second Coming

You did a beautiful job explaining the difference between the 2nd Coming(which by very definition means Christ is coming back to earth for the second time) vs rapture. My only exception would be that you consider the rapture doctrine maybe higher than a third tier for the following reasons:

What is the Blessed Hope if it’s not the Rapture? What are we sharing with people that would make them wake up as to the closeness of the end of time that would give them hope if not the rapture? When you ask an Adventist when they think Jesus is coming they will not give you  a timeframe that it is soon. I wonder if they are afraid of the time of trouble and all we were told about that time and would prefer to be dead rather than the thought of going through the time of trouble? There are no signs of a Sunday Law approaching so they put little thought into the closeness of the hour.

I have discussed with many Adventist about the prophetic times we are witnessing all around and to events in Israel, the UN sustainable goals for 2030, the World Economic Forum and they have no interest or seeming concern. Most have said we don’t want to hear this as it makes us anxious or we have a good life and we try to be a good person . How sad.

It is obvious that Paul only spent a short time with the Thessalonians but he obviously shared the rapture and the time of trouble doctrine with new believers based on the questions Paul seems to be addressing. So what is the Gospel without the Blessed Hope of the Father of the Groom (Jesus) who has said he will not put His Church (the Bride) through His wrath or through His time of testing? Jesus instructed us to be watchmen, longing and waiting for His return. So look up Church the rapture is at the very door.
