He Wore a Crown of Thorns

Cursed is the ground because of you… “Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you;—Gen. 3:17-18

King Jesus, wearing a crown of thorns, not only bore the curse of sin for us on a cross; He became sin that we might become righteous through Him (2 Cor. 5:21).

How are you attempting to eliminate sin and live righteously? Is it through obedience or doing good deeds? Living righteously is impossible apart from the righteousness of Christ. His righteousness is given to you as a free gift—crediting you as righteous even though sometimes you still sin. Have you accepted by faith alone the gift He eagerly awaits to give you?

Even when we were dead in our transgressions, [God] made us alive together with Christ… For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.—Eph. 2:5-9
