Adventism Upended
I would like to humbly thank you for decisively upending Seventh-day Adventism on all 28 fundamental beliefs. I only wish I had known all of this back in 2008 when I first learned about Adventism.
In spite of our differences, I truly appreciate your efforts, and I thank God for your ministry.
God Bless you.

Is Jesus Michael the Archangel?
These days, the Adventist conference here in our area is conducting a 40-days’ journey with God. One of the pastors stated that in the war between God and Satan, the Michael mentioned in the book of Revelation was Jesus himself. Is this true? This is the first time I have heard about this teaching.

Response: It is NOT true that Michael is Jesus! This heresy is an Adventist belief, however; EGW said Michael was Jesus. This is a doctrine Adventism shares with the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and it is pure heresy. Jesus is NEVER called an archangel. Michael’s identity is clearly described in Daniel 10, and in Jude 9 Michael contends with the devil for Moses’ body and does not dare to bring a stinging accusation against him but says, “The Lord rebuke you!” Clearly Jesus directly rebuked Satan, and at the cross He disarmed and defeated him (Col 2:15).
Adventism insists that Jude 9 means that Jesus prevailed over Satan and took Moses’ body so He could resurrect him. Adventism has to insist that Moses was resurrected because, in their theology, Moses could not have been on the Mount of Transfiguration if he had not been resurrected. Adventism does not believe people exist when they are dead, so Moses couldn’t have been there with Jesus and Elijah without having been resurrected.
This reasoning, however, misuses the words of Scripture and makes Jude say something he clearly is not saying. Michael the archangel contended with Satan, but Michael dared not bring a rebuke against the devil but deferred to the Lord!
Adventist Smoke and Mirrors
I just finished listening to the most recent podcast (episode 128) today and want to first thank you ladies for all the work you did in your most recent series covering the 28 Fundamental Beliefs. It is clear you put time, thought, and prayer into the series. I am looking forward to the series that is coming up as well. My husband and I plan to work through your episodes on Galatians together (as well as others). What you both have to say, your experiences therein, and the heart in which you till new soil for your listeners is a blessing; thank you both.
I am definitely moving through the stages of grief and feel lots of anger right now as I process so much. As a former Adventist educator, I am doing lots of reckoning with how I have contributed to the system and propaganda therein, albeit unknowingly. I also do not take too kindly to having my intelligence insulted by Adventist smoke and mirrors. So much was manufactured in my life. I have wondered often who I would be right now had I grown up in a less restrictive and less shame-based environment. There is so much beauty and deep heart/soul/spirit freedom in what the gospel is all about. I resent so much how the Adventist narcissist leaders have, and continue to, pervert that message. The God I desire to know is the God who is truly love and grace.
