Joy in severe stress

It’s hard to express just how much your podcast has meant to me over the last year of Covid isolation and my exit from Adventism! At a time when it seemed no one understood, it has been the greatest joy to have the voices of two former Adventist women filling my mornings with sound teaching, encouragement, and coming from the common background of the worldview of Adventism.

Leaving Adventism has caused severe stress in my marriage and overall life, and despite being able to find a new church group it’s often very valuable to have the understanding perspectives of former Adventists to work through the deceptions.

The work you do is very valuable and greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are our spirits conscious?

I just wanted to say a big thank you for your ministry. Your Proclamation! magazine and your podcasts are very much appreciated, and I am slowly coming to the realization that almost everything I was taught in Adventism not biblical. I first found FAF when researching about the Investigative Judgement and EGW, both of which made no sense to me. Then I found the truth about the Sabbath which initially very much surprised me. It’s so sad and ironic, since Adventism prides itself on being biblical.

Last weekend at the FAF online conference I got to participate in one of your breakout sessions on Saturday, so I got a chance to “meet” Colleen. 

I have questions, but looking through your podcast archives, it looks like you address most of them.  I have listened to about 10 podcast sessions and no doubt will get through all of them at some point. The most surprising and difficult to comprehend is our spiritual nature, mainly how it relates to us living on earth. We don’t have any connection to our spirit side while we live on earth, correct? Once we die, is our spirit “conscious”, and does it have a “body” in heaven?

Response: It was great having you at the conference and also in the breakout session! 

You are right; everything we were taught was wrong or deceptively twisted. As for the spiritual nature of man, I’ll give you a couple of links. But this I want to say: when we believe in Jesus and are born again, we have a new understanding and new wisdom as we read the Scriptures which seem completely NEW! Those are results of our spirits being made alive with the life of Christ and our being indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit who applies the word of God to our lives.

No, we have no conscious awareness of the physical realities of the spiritual realm; I suspect we are locked into three dimensions and time and won’t have unfettered access to other dimensions until we are glorified! Nevertheless, what Jesus tells us in Scripture IS true, and we can know truth as we live on this earth which is by nature broken and sinful—our legacy from Adam. When we do believe the things Scripture says, our lives here even look different. We begin to have perceptive wisdom dealing with the realities in this world. For example, the realization that Adventism is wrong is a spiritual understanding that the Lord teaches us as we trust His word. He is the One who shows us how things don’t add up; He is the one who shows us that even in this world, Adventism is double-speak. When we know Jesus and trust His word, the deceptive nature of that religion becomes more and more clear, and it’s no longer a confusion of “what ifs”. If Scripture is true and we act on it, our “knowing” increases. The “invisible” One God—the Lord Jesus and the Father and the Holy Spirit—is real, and the Lord gives us literal new, eternal life when we trust Jesus!

Adventist mind control 

First, FAF was awesome! We enjoined it so much! I appreciate the work that you and everyone did. It was much more difficult to the set up than usual because of its being on line. So many people from all around the world benefitted from all the sessions. God was glorified! Eyes were opened!! ❤️

Second, I heard you say something about a pod cast you and Nikki had done on mind control. Because of the notes and articles from my mom’s documents I was curious. In the last three days I have listened to it four times! I have to say—every single mind control technique was used on me! It took a while to process. The really amazing thing is, hearing these things explained was strangely comforting. It explains a lot of the anxiety that still haunts from time to time, but now I get it! It was all lies! 

I just want to thank you for having the courage to expose the cult!
