Shall I Leave Adventism?
I am a Seventh-day Adventist, and I don’t believe in EGW anymore. I was always skeptical of her, but now I’m definitely convinced that she is a false prophet. I still go to church on Saturday; I love the people in my church, and if I leave I will feel alone—no community, no fellowship—and there’s another issue: Sabbath. All my life I’ve been going to church on Saturday.
Should I leave Adventism or remain and just base my faith in the Bible? Any advice or words of wisdom are welcome. I was born and raised Adventist in the Philippines, and I’m now living with my husband on the east coast of the United States. He was a Baptist before we got married; I was able to convince him to become an Adventist through profession of faith. He does not believe in Ellen White but based his belief on the Bible itself aided by the Sabbath School lessons.
I just want to believe in Jesus Christ, that He died for my sins once and for all. Should I leave my church and suffer the disdain of people around me, my church people, my family, and my friends—and where will I go? Please help.

Response: Thank you so much for writing!
First, Adventism does not teach the biblical gospel. If you are committed to following Jesus alone, He will guide you to a church where He knows you can grow and become grounded in truth.
Meanwhile, while you search, we have resources for you.
First, on Sundays you can join the livestream of our church Redeemer Fellowship. You can access the service here: https://m.youtube.com/c/RedeemerFellowshipLomaLinda/live
Second, you need to understand what the Bible teaches about the new covenant in order to understand how Jesus fulfilled the shadow of the Sabbath and became the head of a new creation, those who are born again through faith in His finished work alone. I will direct you to some resources below.
Third, I signed you up for our weekly Proclamation! newsletter. Although we are not currently publishing a printed version of Proclamation! magazine, all our back issues are online here: ProclamationMagazine.com
You may need to add the email address mail@LifeAssuranceMinistries.org to your contacts in order for the email not to be directed toward your Spam folder. These emails will arrive every Friday. Articles are available at our website.
You might also enjoy our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/FormerAdventist/featured
Also, you might like to subscribe to our Former Adventist Podcast here; many say these help them unpack the Adventism hidden in the recesses of their minds: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/former-adventist/id1482887969
In addition, we have another podcast called Former Adventist Fact Check in which we talk through the misinformation contained in the weekly Sabbath School lessons. You can find them here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/adventist-fact-check-with-colleen-tinker/id1721662293
Both podcasts are also on our YouTube channel above.
In our weekly email, we are including a link each week to a chapter of Dale Ratzlaff’s book Sabbath In Christ. Thirteen chapters are already online; each week we are adding a chapter until we have the whole book online. I suggest that you begin reading this book online, and have your husband read it, too. You can access the book here:
This Friday you will receive the link to chapter 14 when you receive the Proclamation email.
Fourth, I suggest that you begin listening to our Former Adventist Podcast. Our series on the biblical covenants will be a good place to start followed by our series on the book of Hebrews.
Fifth, I recommend also that you begin watching our weekly video Former Adventist Fact Check which looks at each week’s Sabbath School lessons and explains how the lesson are twisted to teach unbiblical doctrines. You can find these podcasts here:
Finally, I have an assignment for you. If possible, do this with your husband. I suggest that you read the book of Galatians every day for a month. It’s a short book, only six chapters, and it perfectly addresses the Adventist heresy of being under the law. Ask God to teach you what you need to know and ask Him to plant you in truth and reality. He is faithful!
Please feel free to email anytime!
I’ve Been Misled by Adventists
I’m a person that has recently been misled by the false doctrine of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
It all started when I joined an online Bible Study group led by a Adventist member, but I didn’t realize that until he caught me hook, line, and sinker!
I come from the Reformed faith and was indoctrinated to keep the Sabbath.
I fortunately never read any of the writings of Ellen White. Somehow the Lord used my procrastination to protect me. I now feel that I’ve been plucked from the fire.
I’m getting a lot of backlash from my former teacher..
I’d like to ask you to please provide me with all the necessary resources to fight this battle of trying to win his soul over to the true Gospel.
I’d appreciate all assistance you can give me in this.
May the Lord bless the work of your hands! Amen!

Response: The reality is that Adventism teaches a false gospel. It says that the atonement was NOT completed on the cross but that Jesus is continuing to apply His blood, making atonement for sin, in heaven right now in the “investigative judgment” which, they say, began on October 22, 1844.
First, I suggest that you leave that Bible study without looking back. Adventists are trained to deceive and manipulate Christians by the use of proof-texts. They have an unbiblical worldview which includes a physicalist view of humanity—that man has no immaterial spirit but that a person ceases to exist at death. They have a non-orthodox view of the Trinity, believing in Ellen White’s “Heavenly Trio” and not affirming that the three persons all share substance. They say the Three share a will, a name, a purpose, and power, but they do not affirm that they share substance. Their Jesus is a weaker person who had to overcome inherited tendencies to evil, showing us that we, too, can keep the law perfectly as He did. They do not teach the new birth nor understand what it is, because they do not believe that humans have literal spirits that are born dead and must be made alive.
I will give you some resources:
This article will give you an overview of the Adventist great controversy worldview and help you see that their view of reality is not biblical. They use the same words, but they mean different things.
We have also added your email address to our weekly Proclamation! email list. It will arrive in your inbox every Friday morning.
I want to encourage you to read the online book Sabbath In Christ which you can access at the link below. Currently we are publishing one chapter each week from the book. The first 13 chapters are already online, and this Friday number 14 will be online as well:
You can’t out-argue an Adventist because they are taught to use out-of-context proof texts to trap and confuse Christians who do not know the underlying worldview that shapes Adventist thinking. I encourage you to learn all you can about what the Bible says in context about the Sabbath and the biblical covenants, and don’t try to engage in arguments with that Adventist leader. It is dangerous and deceptive to engage in such conversations with Adventists who deliberately teach a false gospel and actively seek to proselytize Christians into their cult. Again, I urge you to leave this study.
