Response from Martin Carey: Thank you! I appreciate your blessing and that you enjoyed the article. Indeed, without the Jesus factor, we cannot properly understand western civilization, new or old. May God bless you also!

Thanks From Berean Call

Dear Brethren, A short note to thank you for publishing the chapters from Sabbath in Christ. At the Berean Call we have very much appreciated Dale and your continuation of the outreach to Seventh-day Adventist people.

May God bless and encourage each of you in these days.

Response: Thank you so much for writing and for your encouragement! Thank you also for all you do for the gospel!

How Would You Answer This Adventist?

I have a question. I am in touch with a lady that sent me the following message, saying that these verses prove that the Bible is talking about EGW and that Revelation proves that it talks about EGW.

How would you respond to it?

Here’s her writing:

“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”—Revelation 12:17 KJV

“To the law” (the Ten Commandments) and “have the testimony of Jesus”: what’s the testimony of Jesus? The Bible will answer:

“And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”—Revelation 19:10 KJV

The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy according to the angel of God.

John wrote the book of Revelation around 96-98 AD, almost two thousand years ago, and God already mentioned her books in the Bible—and that’s amazing, my friend.

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”—Isaiah 46:9-10 KJV

Ellen G. White (1827-1915) is the author of The Spirit of Prophecy. The book was published in Battle Creek, Michigan, between 1870 and 1884.

Response: Sigh. These arguments are so convoluted and out of context!

First, your friend is using the normal Adventist argument that the “commandments” in Revelation 12 and 19 refer to the Ten Commandments, and the reference to the “testimony of Jesus” and “the spirit of prophecy” equals Ellen White.

Those arguments are entirely invented by Adventism—by EGW herself. If read in context, there is absolutely no way those words can mean anything except that God’s people have the personal knowledge of Christ——and also they have Christ’s own testimony of Himself. These passages can be taken both ways, and both are correct.

Adventism gave EGW the title “spirit of prophecy”, and then they say that Revelation refers to her. That is clearly a false argument that makes absolutely no sense n context.

As for the command argument, this article may help you understand how Adventists misuse the word “commandments”. They automatically assign the Ten to every mention of the word “commands” or “commandments” wherever they read that word. Here is an article that helps explain their misuse of the word:

Also, Hebrews 1:1–4 clearly identifies the Lord Jesus as God’s final word:

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.—Hebrews 1:1–4

Your friend cannot claim EGW is in Revelation. God doesn’t contradict Himself, and read IN CONTEXT, there is absolutely no possible way to get the SDA teaching out of those texts! †
