Still Sorting God’s Will from My Indoctrination
Out of all the videos I’ve seen thus far, this one really exposes what is at work in Adventist theology: Ellen fashioned a God just like her, one who has to manipulate people in the name of love to get what he wants.
I am blessed by your videos, both the Former Adventist Fact Check and the Former Adventist Podcast, and not just for the insight into Adventism, but also the Bible knowledge shared (especially about Gods new covenant vs His old covenant).
I was involved with a cultist and insular church for about seven years, and it is still taking time for my brain to be rewired. It wasn’t Adventist, but the leadership was overbearing, and the congregation thought of themselves as overly special and having special insight. They saw other congregations as lesser, and the pastor considered himself to be a prophet of sorts. Whether he had that gift or not I cannot say, but if he did, he abused it.
When people did leave, it was often said they left because they did not love us. When people expressed the weakness of not being able to keep up with the ministry, it was viewed as not having enough of a drive for the kingdom.
Overall, we were the special people that could see deeper than the rest of the churches.
All of this definitely messes with one’s mind and feeds one’s pride, as it did mine.
And there are still some days for me where it is hard to sort out what is truly the Christian life God would have us lead, vs that into which I was indoctrinated.
So, thank you for sharing your stories, the testimonies of God in your lives. It is a comfort to me and a great encouragement. Blessings.

Response: Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Truly God wastes nothing and redeems everything we submit to Him. Even our wanderings in cultic groups He redeems for His glory and for the sake of the gospel!
Surprised By “Here A Little, There A Little”
That whole “here a little, there a little” surprised me when I read it in context. Anyone using it as an interpretive method is likely creating a stumbling block leading to false understanding. One can reorder the Bible’s words to say just about anything.
Thanks again, Colleen, for keeping us informed.

You’d Be Blessed By Studying Adventism
I love that you encourage people to look for our loving Savior at the end of your message, but I was saddened to hear false facts such as the Seventh-day Adventist Church supports an anti-trinitarian view, along with quite a number of other misconstrued comments and facts—it sounded very much like you just wanted to discredit the beliefs of the Adventist church. I pray that if you will make an honest and prayerful investigation into their beliefs, I know that if you do, you’ll be incredibly blessed. May God bless you richly.

Jim Liley’s Response (One of our YouTube moderators): If you haven’t already done so I would suggest listening to the podcast series on the Adventist 28 fundamental beliefs. Here is the link:
Here is a series of articles on this same subject:
The largest reason (around 87%) for those of us who have left, is the doctrines of the false SDA counterfeit Christian denomination. They use similar words of Christianity but they have different definitions. †
