Phil Bubar to give Conference keynote

Phil Bubar, senior pastor of The Chapel Evangelical Free Church in St. Joseph, Michigan, located near the Adventism’s theological seminary, will be the keynote speaker for the seventh annual Former Adventist Fellowship Conference this year at Trinity Church in Redlands, California, February 17-19, 2012.

“If you don’t understand Adventism, your members are at risk,” says Bubar to fellow pastors. In addition to teaching several conference sessions on doctrinal issues including the Trinity, the atonement, and the new birth, Bubar will speak on Friday at 7:00 P.M. at a meeting to which area pastors and the public have been invited. The title of his talk is “Comparing two worldviews—Adventism and Christianity”.

The Friday evening meeting will also include Paul Carden, executive director of the Centers for Apologetics Research and former co-host of The Bible Answer Man, speaking on Adventism’s aggressive proselytizing in mission fields, and Carel Stevenson, son of an Adventist pastor, telling his story of leaving Adventism. Sharon Strum and John Owens of Trinity Church will lead worship, and a panel of experts on Adventism will address questions from the audience at the end of the meeting.

A new feature at this year’s conference will be special sessions for teens led by Carel and Nicole Stevenson. Other conference speakers include former Adventist pastor Dale Ratzlaff, author of four books and founder of Proclamation! magazine, Gary Inrig, senior pastor of Trinity Church, Jon Rittenhouse, expert in campus evangelism and apologetics, and Colleen Tinker, editor of Proclamation! magazine. The weekend is organized by Richard and Colleen Tinker, co-leaders of Former Adventist Fellowship at Trinity Church.

Registration for the conference is $85 for adults and $65 for teens and includes most meals, snacks, and materials. The Friday evening meeting is free and does not require registration. For more information and to register, go to FormerAdventist.com or call877-349-6984.
