Former Adventist Fellowship Conference Broke New Ground

The seventh annual Former Adventist Fellowship (FAF) conference met at Trinity Church in Redlands, California, from February 17–19. Over 70 registered attendees from as far away as Manitoba, Canada, and Pennsylvania met for a weekend of seminars and fellowship that was co-sponsored by Trinity Church and Life Assurance Ministries. The weekend focussed on realigning one’s worldview from “Adventist” to “Christian”. Presenters including keynote speaker Phil Bubar from St. Joseph, Michigan; Dale Ratzlaff, founder of Life Assurance Ministries; Jon Rittenhouse from Trinity Church; and Colleen Tinker, editor of Proclamation! magazine, addressed topics from the Trinity to redemption, justification, and salvation.

New this year was a track of breakout sessions for teens led by Carel and Nicole Stevenson, also members of Trinity Church. The teens who attended loved the sessions which addressed not only questions about Adventism but also about sharing the gospel and dealing with tensions that result when members of a family leave Adventism and join an evangelical Christian church.

Another innovation introduced this year was live-streaming of the general sessions throughout the weekend. Although arrangements for live-streaming were finalized only a day before the conference convened, several dozen people joined the conference online, chatting together on the live feed, and even taking communion in their homes with the conference attendees on Saturday evening.

Comments from participants include:

“We are so grateful for all that we heard at the FAF Conference. The presentations were just Spirit filled!  We always come away blessed and refreshed.”

“It was a wonderful conference. I was particularly thankful to see Adventist doctrine held up side by side with Christian doctrine. They don’t look nearly so similar as I once thought!”

“I caught a new concept that was mind-boggling! I’m ready to study with new eyes. The week-end was such a blessing to me!”

“I, too, say thanks. Since I couldn’t be there in person it was a real blessing to view this evening session.”

The annual FAF conference is held each year at Trinity Church over President’s Day weekend. For more information call 877-349-6984, or go online at www.FormerAdventist.com.

  1. Ewan, you can go to the audio files online, right click each one and save to your computer. Open them in your music-listening software (such as iTunes, for example) and then burn those files onto CDs. Or, if you have na iPod or other mobile music device, you can transfer the audio files to your device and listen from there.
